Home Made Beef Burger

The Heart Attack

I have the biggest soft spot on my palate for burgers. When preparing your burger you have to let your imagination go wild! At least that’s my thinking. You can make a patty out of pork, lamb, turkey, basically from your favorite proteins. For this recipe we are going with the basic beef burger.  I have a few components I like in my burger and when you combine them you have the makings of a heart attack! I have added bacon and egg in this burger, BUT to ease my conscience just a little bit, I skipped the cheese.

The players

For 4 burgers

Burger Buns

Toppings of your choice: I use mayonnaise salsa

For the patty:

Quarter Kilogram Minced beef * Remember, when you make a burger a lot of the fat will drain off the meat, don’t select mince that’s  too lean, you will end up with a dry burger. On the flip side if there’s too much fat in the mince it will shrink up and harden.*

1 medium sized onion

1 egg

Salt and Pepper

Let’s go!

In a large bowl mix the minced beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. the mix

You can use your hands to mix it all up then shape into  patties.

Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat, then cook patties for 2-3 minutes each side or until cooked to taste, I prefer them medium done.

For the buns, spread some butter on the buns and place on a hot pan for 1-2 minutes.

Build up your burger and enjoy 🙂
